I'm Lindz, the artist behind Tiki Tuscadero Mugs.  

I first fell in love with island culture, Polynesian Pop and tiki cocktails back in the early 1980's.  Landlocked in Big D, Texas, I had my first immersive experience into the world known as tiki as a young girl at Disney World's Polynesian Resort.  I was hooked!  When I was older and could legally go to bars, I developed a passion for tropical cocktails and escapism visiting tiki bars in every city I traveled to.  I started collecting tiki mugs in the early 1990's and now that collection has grown to hundreds of mugs from artists all over the world.  

While I have been a working artist for the past 30 years as a photographer, I did not start working in the ceramics and sculpting mediums until 2020 during the pandemic, when my pinup photography business was put on hold as the world sheltered in place.   I had a long list of mug designs I had thought of and even tried to get one produced to no avail, so I made the leap of faith, bought some clay and gave it a shot as I was stuck at home during the peak of the pandemic.  

I was surprised at how easy it was for me to sculpt whatever I could dream up and wished I had known this sooner!  I quickly bought a kiln, had to wait forever for it to be delivered due to everything being shut down during the pandemic, but when it finally arrived I started making all the mugs I had wanted for years that weren't being made by other artists.  Mainly, femme mugs inspired by my love of vintage Polynesian fashion.  Much to my surprise, my mugs resonated with others and here I am years later still sculpting and selling mugs as fast as I can dream them up and sculpt them.  It's been a roller coaster ride for sure, but I am constantly thinking up new mug ideas with a feminine touch.
